EGYPT

I honestly don't know if it was a great idea to watch Mummy Returns just 2 days before I leave to the

 Red land. EGYPT.

The first day was nothing much except jet lag and trying all the sweets at dinner.

Cause, obviously I had sugar rush for the next two days in Cairo and Alexandria

Day2- Met the local guide. And, had a road trip to Alexandria from Cairo (lot of hot chocolates on the way. RIP diet)

Full day visits of Catacomb, Roman Theater, Pompeys’ Pillar, view of Citadel of Qait bay & Montazah Gardens.

Personally, I'm a history freak.

Also, not to eat my sock but since Highschool I've

always aced

in History and Social studies.

Infact, I remember my high school History teacher gave

separate exam where she was sitting infront of me

ANDDD, Yup aced that too.

So this was all about Alexandria.

P.S there are cats everywhere :')

Had an early morning to skip the Cairo

traffic

but, since I live in India how worst can

the traffic be?

First visit was to Great Pyramids of Giza,

Sphinx.

And went inside one of the pyramids and

there was just plain, not a lot, just four walls

and having a nice chat with pharaoh Khufu.

just chilling with few other mummies.

Nothing exciting you know.

Second and further visit were to -Explore

Solar Boat Museum

Visit to Perfume Shop and How ancient

papers were made.

Just struck by papyrus perfume and learnt about which flavoured perfume to wear when trying to attract your husband. SOOO watch out husband cause I know the secret of desert.

Anddd, awestruck when visited the Egyptian Museum

and some free time to shop at Khan El Khalili Bazaar. Also extremely crowded due to a fest near the Imam Hussain mosque. So just had a mint hibiscus tea and headed back to Hilton hotel

And, before dinner we went to the magical Sound and Light show at Pyramid.

DAY3- was about travelling from Cairo to Aswan and since the flight was delayed our plan of visiting Abu Simbel was shifted to Day4.

But, Day3 we did see the High Dam and Philae Temple

Was honestly a mess.

But, managed to cover few places the itinerary.

So, evening we visited a village called Nubian

and watched the Nubian show

Day4- Travelled near Sudan border to reach Abu Simbel.

and, yup. Mummy returnes vibe.

Later that day we sailed to Edfu.

Day5- Visited the Edfu temple and sailed to Luxor.

Had quality time in the sundeck. The beautiful sunsets and sunrise from the cruise and not even photos can do justice

Day6-On reaching Luxor.

We checked in and continued to visit

Valley of Kings, Queen Hatchepsut Temple and Colossi of Memnon

Its truly unbelievable that over centuries there are still such great monuments and history to learn from

Day7-Second day in Luxor

We went to the famous Hot air balloon through a beautiful boat ride across the river

Later, that noon we visited the famous Karnak Temple followed by Luxor temple in the night

LUXOR TEMPLE

Day8 and 9 Stay at Hurghada

Loved the beach and hotel.

The never ending cocktails on New years

the beach activities, the hangover,

the snorkelling and sand in your hair and dress.

The snorkelling experience was just great and different and Yes, you know me already I've decided to live near a beach now.

And, the trip came to an end by travelling back to Cairo.

Overall, I'm grateful for this trip and grateful for the people I've met and the places I've visited.

The fact that I covered most of the country in the 10days and learnt well about the history and culture.

Thats what travelling is all about.

being grateful and learning new language and culture.

until next time.
