MAY 2019

 Italy

01

Ahhh, Italy. Another dream destination of mine. Started our tour with a long drive from Liechtenstein to Venice. Did the boat ride around and reached St Mark's Square and met the local guide and walked for half a day in Venice where we stopped to eat the best Pizza and drink the best Wine we continued and visited Cathedral of Venice, Saint Mark's Basilica, with the richness of its marbles and mosaics, where on the way I bought few Venice keychains and a beautiful black masquerade, which Venice is famous for it's said that the Carnival of Venice (Carnevale di Venezia) was started from a victory of the Venice Republic against the Patriarch of Aquileia, Ulrico di Treven in the year 1162. In the honour of this victory, nearly 3million people start to dance and gather in San Marco Square. With a free time for lunch, we passed through Bridge of Sighs and ended the day with visiting Murano Glass showroom and watched how glass antiques are made.

And, Day 2 started with going to Pisa to visit the Square Miracles and I remained spellbound as I approached the Leaning Tower of Pisa, I remember having a great ice cream and hot chocolate in a local cafe which viewed the Leaning Tower and a few facts about this is the construction of the tower occurred in three stages over 199 years and the design was attributed by Bonanno Pisano, a well-known 12th-century resident artist of Pisa.

And, oof the photos we clicked and had another gelato ice cream on our way back to the hotel.

The ice creams I've had in this trip. Yes, immediately hit the gym once the flight landed. HAHA

Day 3,From Pisa to Vatican City to visit St. Peter's Basilica and Michelangelos famous Pieta.

Although the photo above is blur due to the rush and time limit but, the real experience is just beautiful. When Michelangelo was just 24 he created this masterpiece by carving it from just a single slab of marble it was from a French cardinal Jean de Billheres, who served the church in Rome, wanted to be remembered long after he'd died. So, he hired Michelangelo to make a memorial for his tomb that would capture a scene that was popular in Northern European art at the time: the tragic moment of the Virgin Mary taking Jesus down from the cross.

Actually, that undersells de Billheres’s request. Michelangelo's exact job description for the project was to create "the most beautiful work of marble in Rome, one that no living artist could better." While other sculptors might have balked at such an intense demand. The Pieta was attacked brutally and was criticised

And with this visit we went for lunch, proceeded for a panoramic city tour of Rome which included Tiber River, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain and the wonder of the world Colosseum

ITALLLLYYY, will always be my romantic and favourite destination. I'm grateful for everyone I met on this trip and the memories I've made. Although, I'm super mad that i don't get to eat everyday the Pizza and Gelato ice cream I had on this trip.
